Common Problems

My receiver keeps resetting itself

Unplug the power cord and plug it into a different outlet. If you're using a powerstrip, try bypassing to the wall outlet.

If the issue persists, submit a support request.
 

Picture is frozen or pixilated

Reset your receiver by pressing the RED reset button.
HD Receivers: Located on the right side of the receiver above the access card.
HD-DVR Receivers: Located above the access card in a compartment on the front right side.


 

Picture is frozen or pixilated

Sound is distorted or no sound at all
Verify the cords/cables are securely plugged in to the correct locations on the receiver and on the TV.
 

How do I check the status of a service outage in my area?

To check the status of a service outage in your area, call (866) 386-7778.
If there are any known outages, an automated FLASH message will play.

Error Codes

203
Your account is past due. Services have been reduced to minimum level.
Solution: Contact DIRECTV about your past due balance at (866) 386-7778.


721
The channel you are trying to access is not listed in the programming package on the account.
Solution: Please verify that program is part of your programming package by either contact DIRECTV at (866) 386-7778 or log in to your DIRECTV account and refresh your service at Directv.com/Refresh.

Your DIRECTV receiver may not have the programming information for the channel you're trying to view.
Solution: Please try refreshing your service at Directv.com/Refresh.

Your receiver is having trouble communicating with your satellite dish.
Solution: Please go to the back of your receiver and check that all cable connections are secure. Check to make sure that the COAX cable is plugged into SAT 1, not SAT2. If there is inclimate weather, you may need to wait for it to clear. If you see or suspect an obstruction with your dish, call (866) 386-7778.

Your access card in your receiver may not be inserted properly or the receiver is having trouble reading it.
Solution: Please locate the door to the access card which is either on the front or right side of your receiver. Make sure the chip is face down with the logo on top. Then, reinsert the card all the way in the slot.

Your receiver is having trouble communicating with your satellite dish.
